Supramolecular Polymerization of Triarylamine-Based Macrocycles into Electroactive Nanotubes

چکیده
A S6-symmetric triarylamine-based macrocycle (i.e., hexaaza[16]paracyclophane), decorated with six lateral amide functions, is synthesized by a convergent and modular strategy. This shown to undergo supramolecular polymerization in o-dichlorobenzene, its nanotubular structure elucidated combination of spectroscopy microscopy techniques, together X-ray scattering molecular modeling. Upon sequential oxidation, spectroelectrochemical analysis the polymer suggests an extended electronic delocalization charge carriers both within macrocycles (through bond) between along stacking direction space).

ion of the proton from the amino group of the monomer (phenyl 4-(alkylamino)benzoate) by the base, the reactivity of the phenyl ester moiety is deactivated, which prevents monomers from reacting with each other. The anion produced by proton abstraction from the monomer will only react with initiator, leading to an activated monomer that possesses a more reactive phenyl ester moiety compared to ...
متن کاملCompression, supramolecular organization and free radical polymerization of ethylene gas
At low pressure, ethylene gas consists of single translating and rotating molecules and behaves as an ideal gas. With decrease of free volume by compression, various rotating supramolecular particles are formed, which require less space for the movement: molecular pairs, bimolecules and oligomolecules. The appearance of a new kind of particles is manifested as a phase transition of the second o...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium supramolecular polymerization
Supramolecular polymerization has been traditionally focused on the thermodynamic equilibrium state, where one-dimensional assemblies reside at the global minimum of the Gibbs free energy. The pathway and rate to reach the equilibrium state are irrelevant, and the resulting assemblies remain unchanged over time. In the past decade, the focus has shifted to kinetically trapped (non-dissipative n...
متن کاملCarbon Nanotubes: Supramolecular Mechanics
Supramolecular interactions are usually short-range (near contact) forces between the molecules, too weak to cause the intermolecular changes or bond formation between the particles. At the same time, their strength and range are sufficient to cause self-assembly of the molecular units or certain elastic deformations of these building blocks. Because of the weakness of supramolecular interactio...
متن کاملControllable self-assembly of amphiphilic macrocycles into closed-shell and open-shell vesicles, nanotubes, and fibers.
Depending on functional groups, amphiphilic hexaamide macrocycles self-assemble into closed-shell and open-shell vesicles in polar solvents. In the presence of water, open-shell vesicles morph into closed-shell vesicles, whereas acidification of the medium transforms vesicles into nanotubes and fibers.
